Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and implementation of many camps/workshops through the summer.
  • Assist with preparation and implementation of county fair.
  • Assist with preparation of exhibits for Iowa State Fair.
  • Recruitment of and correspondence with county fair helpers.
  • Assist in general office duties, including answering phones, making copies, handling walk-in clientele and light cleaning/organizing.
  • Provide pre and post event publicity via newspapers, radio, direct mail and personal contact.
  • Assist staff with preparation of material for youth programs.
  • Provide staff reports to the Hancock County Extension Council
Qualifications
  • Interest in working with youth
  • Experience as a member or volunteer in the 4-H program is desirable
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to youth and adults
  • Ability to work with office equipment and computer programs
  • Experience in working with groups and leading group activities
  • Responsible, dependable, and good organizational skills
  • Preference to candidates with knowledge of Hancock County
  • Access to transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • Must pass child protection safety screening process
Additional Information
  • Flexible hours, up to 30 hours per week from June 1 – mid-August.
  • Depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Reimbursement for work related travel and other expenses while on the job.
  • Some weekend and evening hours.
