Davis County Extension is looking for a reliable and energetic program assistant. This 15-25 hour per week, 12-week position (240 hours) provides organization and delivery of day camps. The day camps will target elementary-aged youth, allowing them to engage in STEM-focused activities during the summer break. This position will also be responsible for assisting the county youth coordinator during the Davis County Fair (July 16-21, 2024) and assisting other staff with programs and projects as needed.
This position provides assistance to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Davis County for the organization and delivery of day camps and youth programs.
The summer program assistant will help plan and execute up to 6-day camp programs.These programs target elementary-aged youth, allowing them to engage in STEM-focused activities during the summer break, with an emphasis on gardening, health, and nutrition.
Provide assistance to the County Youth Coordinator during the week of the Davis County Fair (July 16-21, 2024).
Provide assistance to the office staff where needed, support county fair prep, support/help 4-H programs/tasks, and any other office functions needed.
The position requires skills in written and oral communication and the ability to deliver a wide variety of topics relating to STEM education, healthy choices, gardening, and nutrition.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Employment contingent on successful background screening
Ability to work with minimal supervision from professional staff and supervise volunteers
Ability to work as a team to develop and deliver programs
Willing to learn new skills
Educational background in education or youth development, nutrition, and/or agriculture preferred
This is a 12-week position, starting in mid-May
