Objective

Davis County Extension is looking for a reliable and energetic summer youth education intern.  This 15 – 25 hour per week, 12-week position provides organization and delivery of day camps.  The day camps will target elementary-aged youth, allowing them to engage in STEM-focused activities during the summer break. This position will also be responsible for assisting the county youth coordinator during the Davis County Fair (July 11-16, 2023) and assisting other staff with programs and projects as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare for , and implement summer education and day camp programs.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to improving the lives of children and an appreciation of different learning styles
  • Develop marketing tools and advertise programs, using both print and online marketing methods
  • Provide evaluation tools for educational programs
  • Well organized and responsive to kids’ needs
  • Work cooperatively with other adults as well as with children
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Educational background in education or youth development, nutrition, and/or agriculture preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Employment contingent on successful background screening
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision from professional staff and supervise volunteers
  • Ability to work as a team to develop and deliver programming
  • Willing to learn new skills

Additional Information
  • This position is seasonal, running for up to 12 weeks from the end of May to mid-August, 15 to 25 hours per week, paid at $12 per hour.
  • This position will involve considerable bending, sitting, standing and reaching, supervising recreation (primarily outside), and other activities as planned or assigned.
  • Ability to work outside in the summer weather, for up to two hours at a time
  • Lifting of 40 lbs. or less on occasion
  • Applicant will be required to pass a background check
