4-H youth programs provide opportunities for youth to develop skills they can use throughout their life. Iowa 4-H builds upon a century of experience as it fosters positive youth development that is based on the needs and strengths of youth, their families, and communities. 4-H provides opportunities to young people to become competent, caring, contributing, confident and connected citizens with character. 
4-H also offers youth camps, trips and scholarships for its members.

Improve your showmanship skills to get ready for exhibiting your livestock projects this summer! Showmanship sessions for beef, poultry & rabbits, sheep & goats and swine! Happening on April 27th from 9am-11:15am. Register by April 15th.

Calling all 4-H photographers and want-to-be photographers!  Jefferson County 4-H, with our neighboring 4-H programs, is offering an all-day Photography Workshop at the Washington County Extension Office on Saturday, March 30th from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Pre-registration required by March 15th with a $15 fee.

Jefferson County 4-H is hosting a Barn Quilt Workshop that will be held March 16th from 1-4pm at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds (Activities Building). Makes a great 4-H project! Register by March 8th. $20 for 4-H members. $40 for non-4-H members. 4th grade & up - including adults!

The Summer Program Assistant’s role is to work for the Iowa State University Extension Office to provide local youth educational programming in Jefferson County with minimal responsibilities at the Jefferson County Fair. Interested applicants may send their cover letter and resume to by March 1st at 4:30pm.
