Making Twitter more Accessible

It is important to use all of the tools available to us to insure that our content on all platforms is as accessible as possible.  

Creating More Accessible Content on Twitter

Step 1: Login to your Twitter account

Step 2: Click on your profile picture.

Step 3: Then click on "Settings and Privacy"

Step 4: Click on Accessibility.

Step 5: Click the checkbox next to "Compose Image Descriptions".

There are several Accessibility Options on the Twitter mobile app that work with Apple's VoiceOver.

Step 6: Click the "Save Changes" button if using a computer to access your Twitter acocunt.

This allows you to add image alternative text to any images you use on your Twitter account, thus allowing users with vision impairments to better understand the content you are presenting!

When creating a new post originating from Twitter, load your image.  Once loaded, click on the Add description text below the image to add image alt text.

When creating a new post originating from Hootsuite, select New Post and load your image. Click Edit image details.

Then add Alt Text appropriate for your image.
