There are a large number of computers that are only used once or a few times a year. Most of these are laptops used for county fair. It is recommended that those computers be turned on once a month to allow for updates to run and make sure that the computer stays registered on the ISU network. If a computer is off the network for an extended period and then turned on the day you need it – it likely will not work. Make sure you test your computer a week or more in advance of when you plan on using it. This will save you a lot of frustration and possibly downtime.
