Introductory RUSLE2 and Iowa Phosphorus Index Workshop to be held on December 13 in Altoona, IA

An Introductory RUSLE2 & the Iowa Phosphorus Index workshop will be held at ISU Extension & Outreach Polk County Office in Altoona, Iowa on December 13 from 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM. RUSLE2 and Iowa phosphorus Index are required to determine risk ratings for nutrient management and manure management in State of Iowa. The workshop will be taught by Don Corrington, USDA – NRCS, Kapil Arora & Dan Andersen, ISU Extension, and Jeremy Klatt, Iowa DNR.

Each registrant must bring a Microsoft Windows compatible laptop computer equipped with a USB port and Microsoft Excel Software. The majority of work done during the workshop will require the use of Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation 2 (RUSLE2) and Iowa Phosphorus Index Calculator. These programs and associated information will be provided on a flash / thumb drive. Registrants must have administrative password for the laptop they bring to the workshop to be able to install software. Class size is limited to 30 participants. Use of RUSLE2 & Iowa Phosphorus Index in Iowa DNR and NRCS Plans and in manure management planning will be discussed in the workshop.
