Life can present us with some unexpected work related issues. Extension staff are all facing times of uncertainty and anxiety about the job. So where do we turn when we need some support or assistance in working through these issues? The ISU Employee Assistance Program would be a very logical and helpful place to start.
We are very fortunate that ISU recognizes the importance of providing a confidential resource to help us deal with these life challenges. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a valuable benefit designed for us and our eligible family members.
ISU has just introduced a new partnership to provide us this service. By contacting the EAP at (515) 244-6090 or (800) 327-4692 or (877) 542-6488 TTY, we can discover a variety of resources available to us. If you think EAP is only for confidential counseling when you are experiencing a personal difficulty, think again.
The new partnership for EAP provides several avenues for assistance. In addition to immediate telephone access to a counselor or up to three personal counseling session per year, we can obtain life coaching assistance for up to eight weeks, we can obtain free 30 minute telephone or in-person consultation with an attorney or financial consultation, we can can obtain resources to help us with eldercare, and we can find resources to help us in our role as a leader or manager.
The EAP truely is a benefit that we need to be aware of and take advantage of. To access the web site of the EAP provider, Employee & Family Resources, visit http://www.efr.org/wps/eap and enter employee sign in code: E223771. Check it out and let me know what you think.
