Youth for the Quality Care of Animals

The link for YQCA information is https://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/yqca  This link will show you the help sheets and also has the link for you to login to YQCA.  Please read through this information carefully.  There are many changes from the FSQA system.  You need to complete this certification by July 1.  When you complete the web-based certification, be sure to print your certificate and bring it or email it to the Extension Office so we can record it.
The link to create an account to sign-in to obtain your certification is https://yqca.learngrow.io  You will sign in through your family's 4hOnline account.  You must be re-enrolled and active for the current 4-H year to create a YQCA account.
There are several options to certify for YQCA:
1) You may take and pass an online training/test each year.  There is a $12 fee for the online training.
2) You may attend an instructor led training (face-to-face session) at the Harrison County Extension and Outreach Office.  Harrison County will hold a session on March 21st and one on April 15th.  A light meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the training session will begin at 6 p.m.  These sessions will be held at the Harrison County Extension and Outreach Office, 304 East 7th Street in Logan.  There is a $3 fee (per youth) for the instructor led training.  You must pre-register and pay for the class online.  NOTICE:  THERE ARE NO MORE INSTRUCTOR LED TRAININGS FOR THE 2019 SEASON.  YOU MUST NOW DO THE WEB-BASED ONLINE COURSE.

3) Testing out: There is no longer an option for taking a printed (paper) version of the test at the Extension office.  All testing must be done online through YQCA.  Again, there is a fee to take the exam.  If you pass the exam you will pay for the years the test covers.  (example:  if you take the test when you are 12, you will be charged $12 x 3 years or $36)  You are only eligible to take the test in the years you are 12 and 15 (on January 1).  You have only one opportunity to pass the test.  If you do not pass the test, you will need to either attend an instructor led (face-to-face) session or complete the online training.  Contact the Extension office for more information about testing.

IMPORTANT!  You must pre-register and pay the fee online for the instructor led training prior to the class.
