Pesticide Safety Education Program

The goal of the Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) is to provide educational information throughout Iowa on the safe and effective use of pesticides. PSEP is responsible for Pesticide Applicator Continuing Instruction Courses (CIC’s) in cooperation with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.Other programs that PSEP is involved in include integrated pest management, worker protection, environmental quality, and agricultural health.

Commercial Pesticide Applicator Trainings

Hamilton County Extension will offer the Continuing Instructional Courses (CIC) in person for commercial pesticide applicators.  At home live-streamed options are also be available on select dates.

Private Pesticide Applicator Training Registration & Dates

  • Hamilton County will offer two in person trainings.  Cost for training has increased and is now $30.  You can pay in check or cash (check preferred) at the door.
  • Dates are Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the Ed Prince Building, Hamilton County Fairgrounds in Webster City beginning at 1:30 pm or Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the Kamrar Lion's Building beginning at 9:30 am.  
  • Registration is required and can be done online or by calling Stacie Iles at 515-832-9597 or email siles@iastate.edu.
  • A complete list of trainings in and around Hamilton County is available here.  Attend any training that fits your schedule.
  • Certified applicators who do not attend annual training will have to take an exam to re-certify.  Exam information can be found on the IDALS webpage.
