Registration is available for a short course on advanced grain elevator operations management. The course, presented by the Iowa Grain Quality Initiative and the Agribusiness Association of Iowa, will be Jan. 8-12, 2018, at the Jeff and Deb Hansen Agricultural Student Learning Center, Iowa State University, in Ames, Iowa.

Beef producers who want to learn about risk management topics, including costs of wintering cattle, available insurance options and a general beef cattle outlook, are invited to attend a beef cattle risk management workshop Nov. 8 near Chariton. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach beef specialist Joe Sellers has organized the event, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Pin Oak Marsh Learning Center, 45996 State Highway 14, Chariton.

 The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Women in Ag Leadership Conference will be held Nov. 27-28 at the Iowa State Center – Scheman Building, Ames, Iowa. The cost to participate in the intensive leadership workshops on Monday evening is $20. The cost to participate in the full-day conference on Tuesday is $30 for students with college/university identification and $60 for all others. Online registration is now available.

Browse commodities and products, investigate market and industry trends, study business creation and operation, read research results and locate value-added resources.

  • Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management Extension provides resources for the hospitality industry.

  • Data on each county in Iowa including population demographics, education, retail sales, personal income, employment, occupation, housing, and family characteristics.

  • The Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) conducts research, counsels, and trains business people in management, financing, and operating small businesses, and provides comprehensive information services and access to experts in a variety of fields.
