Celebrate National 4-H Week October 1-7

Greene COunty is celebrating National 4-H Week October 1-7 with lots of activities. 4-H grows confidence, creativity, curiosity, courage, character and so much more by allowing youth to use the skills they learn to go out and make a positive difference in their communities. Help Iowa 4-H celebrate the outstanding impact youth have made throughout the state.

Kayla Hyett, Greene County Youth & 4-H Coordinatorand Young Leaders are visiting with the 4th graders at Greene County Elementary and Paton-Churdan about joining 4-H. Clubs. Look for window decorations at businesses across Greene County. In honor of the celebration, the clubs are conducting a Used Books and Board Games Drive in support of New Opportunities. The new and gently used donations will go to Adopt-a-Family and Toys for Tots this Christmas. Anyone in the community is invited to donate and Greene County Extension at 104 West Washington in Jefferson will serve as the donation center. If you see a 4-H'er "wearing their green" this week, send us a photo - they may win a prize. One current 4-H'er will win a prize for referring someone new to the program. Watch our Facebook pages and Twitter for photos of activities and fun facts about 4-H.
