AMES, Iowa -- Thirty-nine percent of all adult Americans are caring for a loved one who is sick or has a disability. Caregiving can be a stressful responsibility leading to poor health, mental distress and less life satisfaction for the caregiver. It can be challenging for caregivers to find the support that they need, says Cheryl Clark, a human sciences specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Partnership with Iowa State University, Iowa Food Bank Association 

DES MOINES, Iowa (June 18, 2020) – Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg and Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig today announced the Beef Up Iowa program to connect Iowa beef producers with food insecure Iowans. The program is a partnership with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Iowa State University and Iowa’s beef producers, and is an initiative of Gov. Reynolds’ Feeding Iowans Task Force led by Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg.

“Stay Independent: A Healthy Aging Series” is a nutrition and wellness program offered through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach for adults age 60 and older. The program begins June 3rd, 2020 and runs through June 24th, in Jefferson.

The Greene County Extension & Outreach is offering Mask Kits for community members to either keep for personal use or to donate. Greene County Extension’s Office Assistant, Cindy Adamson donated fabric and is preparing kits for anyone who would like them. We have two different patterns available and a list of where that specific pattern can be donated locally. “This is a way for Greene County Extension to show our support to our community during this difficult time,” said Kayla Willms, Greene County’s 4-H & Youth Coordinator.
