Babysitting Class for Youth Ages 11 and Up

Fremont County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be offering a Babysitting Class December 14 at the United Faith Church and Community Center in Sidney.  It is open to all youth ages 11 and up.
Mandy Maher, Program Coordinator for Fremont County Extension & Outreach, and Heidi Lowthorp, Parent Educator for Growing Strong Families, will be teaching the course, with help from special guest speakers.
The course will run from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.  Throughout the day, participants will learn about child development, safety, food & nutrition, business management, first aid and more, all in preparation for being a great babysitter!
Lilly, a 2018 course graduate, said she learned how to give CPR, what to do in an emergency, how to entertain kids, and what to do if they cry.  She added that the class was very informative!
The cost for this fun and interactive course is $35.  Fees will be used to off-set direct expenses, including curriculum materials, breakfast, lunch and snacks, and to support the Fremont County ISU Extension Program.  In an effort to make this program available to everyone, scholarships are available as needed.  Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, November 27 at 4:30 p.m.  Late registrations will not be allowed and at least 10 paid registrations must be received in order to hold the class.
Registration forms will be available at Fremont County schools, in the Extension Office, and can be downloaded from the links below.  For more information, email, or call the Extension Office at (712) 374-2351.
