Fremont County Youth Committee Presents a New Theme!

The Fremont County 4-H Youth Committee has decided to incorporate a theme into this year's static exhibits.  Participants are encouraged to bring projects that relate to the theme: PIGS!  Ideas include a pig-themed cake, pig fabric in a sewing project, a pig painting or a welded pig.  Participation is TOTALLY optional, but special ribbons will be awarded for qualifying projects!

Photo mats are available for purchase at the Fremont County Extension Office.  4x6 = $1; 5x7 and 8x10 = $2 
 

4-H Livestock

Review the updated Iowa 4-H Animal Identification, Weighing, and Exhibiting Requirements for County, State and Interstate Shows.  Topics covered include age requirements, quality assurance certification, general animal requirements, ownership requirements, animal care and housing, weighting and tagging, regional and national shows, importatnt deadlines and species ID requirements.
 
YQCA is REQUIRED ANNUALLY for any youth in grades 4-12 exhibiting swine, cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits or poultry.  The training promotes the development of a common framework for youth livestock quality assurance programs that will enhance the educational experience of youth, improve the care of animals, and provide a highter level of food safety to consumers.  Face-to-face trainings will be provided this spring and summer, but youth can also choose to certify online at www.yqca.org.
 

Food & Nutrition
