Babysitting Workshop

A Babysitting Workshop will be held on May 30, 2024 at the Shenandoah Public Library.  The hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The program is a joint effort between Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Fremont and Page counties.

The workshop is intended to:

  • Familiarize youth with the responsibilities of babysitting.

  • Teach the skills and techniques needed for youth to become competent babysitters.

  • Help youth develop the confidence needed to handle situations that could happen when they babysit.

  • Prepare youth in the business aspects of babysitting.

Workshop topics will include basic first aid, CPR, and choking, the business of babysitting, nutrition, home safety, caring for infants and toddlers, ages and stages of child development, and more.

Lunch and a snack will be prepared by participants as part of the program.  The $15 registration fee, used to offset direct expenses and to support the 4-H Youth Development program, will cover the cost of food and supplies.

This course is intended for youth in grades 5-12.

Registration, payment, and requests for special accommodations are required by May 24.  Visit to register.
