2023 Waubonsie Horse Camp

The 2023 Waubonsie Horse Camp will be hosted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Fremont County June 9th-11th at the Fremont County Fairgrounds with riding clinics being conducted in the Sidney Rodeo Arena. The camp is open to 4th-12th grade 4-H members from across Iowa. Horse superintendent, Ashley Smith is working closely with County Youth Coordinator, Jessica Prazan to secure clinicians and plan a fun filled camp experience.

This years riding clinicians include Morgan Snyder from Snyder Performance Horses in Crete, NE and the second riding clinician is in the process of being secured. They will be working with riders and their horses on skills related to horsemanship, reining, and a third discipline. Our horseless horse clinician is Kati Bayles from Adams County. She will focus on the participants who want to learn more about horses, but don’t necessarily have a horse of their own. She will focus on basic horse care, equipment fitting, and horse safety. The horseless horse participants will work alongside live horses while developing their skills.

Horse campers will get the opportunity to stay overnight with their horse, eat camp grub, participate in team building, make new friends, and more.
