Food Safety Fairs are an excellent way to engage students or staff members in learning about food safety. ISU Extension and Outreach can facilitate a Food Safety Fair at your organization. We have stations to illustrate:
- Proper Hand Washing
- Cross Contamination
- Thermometer Use
- Thermometer Calibration
- Cleaning and Sanitizing
- Proper Food Storage
- Proper Food Cooling
The Fair can begin with a short program that covers SafeFood© Basics (approximately 15 – 20 minutes). Participants then rotate around the stations (about 5 minutes at each).
The entire training session lasts about one hour, although these can be modified depending upon number of stations and time spent at each. We recommend a maximum of 10 participants per station. Thus, if 40 learners, we would recommend a four-station fair.
