- 4-Hers for 4-H Campaign

4-Hers for 4-H Campaign
This annual 4-Hers for 4-H campaign is conducted by youth members of the State 4-H Council Finance Committee.
4-H Clubs across the state are encouraged to donate $4.00 per 4-H member. The funds raised help provide financial aid for program fees, provide financial aid for state-wide events, support the State 4-H Conference, provide county mini-grants, and other projects as voted upon by the State 4-H Council.

4-H Foundation Mini Grants
If a club participates in the 4-Hers for 4-H campaign they are eligible to apply for a county mini grant. Counties and clubs can apply for up to $500 to use for any activity that directly benefits 4-Hers.

Join approximately 500 teens from across the state on the Iowa State University campus to experience three consecutive days full of speakers, educational workshops, cultural exploration, and service learning.
Open to 4-H and non 4-H members in grades 8-12

- Record Keeping

The purpose of 4-H record keeping is to teach youth how to keep records, which is an important life skill. Record keeping is an ongoing process that does not end when the 4-H year ends. Below are the record keeping forms. Click on the appropriate form you need to complete and add to your 4-H Record Book. If you have questions about any of the forms or need assistance in record keeping, contact the Floyd County Extension Office.
Record books are due to the Floyd County Extension Office on the last Friday of September. - September 27, 2024
What to put in a record book
- Title Page - include current photo, name, club, age, grade, years in 4-H, and 4-H age (Junior, Intermediate, or Senior)
- Yearly 4-H Summary
- Project Records
- Project Areas - static / non-livestock exhibits
- Basic 4-H Project Record - first, second, or third year in a project area
- Experienced 4-H Project Record - fourth, fifth, or sixth year in a project area
- Advanced 4-H Project Record - seventh, eighth, or ninth year in project area
- Note: Can use goal cards in place of project record forms for static exhibits only

- YQCA Certification

Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) certification is required for all beef, dairy, meat/dairy goat, poultry, rabbit, sheep, and swine exhibitors at both county and state fair. This certification is a required yearly training.
Online Training:
- $12 per exhibitor and paid online with a credit or debit card
- Log into your account on the YQCA website
In person Training:
- $3 per exhibitor and paid online with a credit or debit card
- Pre-registration is required on YQCA website

- Monday, March 18 from 5:30-6:30 pm at the Floyd County Fairgrounds YEC building (Course Name: Floyd County YQCA March 20)
- Thursday, March 21 from 5:30-6:30 pm at the Floyd County Fairgrounds YEC building (Course Name: Floyd County YQCA March 23)
All participants must completed the pre and post survey to view their certificate. All trainings must be completed by June 21, 2024.
