4-H Summer Aide
Represent Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Floyd County with youth programs and activities designed to meet identified needs and target audiences.  The position will assist the County Youth Coordinator in empowering youth to reach their full potential through positive youth development programs and research-based experiences.

  • Assist County Youth Coordinator in organizing and delivering Youth Development programs.
  • Work as a team with County Extension staff, Youth Field Specialist, and Volunteers as needed to carry out program assignments.
  • Participate in county staff meetings and county and regional planning sessions.
  • Attend trainings as required and needed.
  • Submit records of program participation, program evaluation, wage, and mileage reports, as required by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Floyd County Agricultural Extension District.


  • Interest in working with youth.  Experience in organizing and leading group activities.
  • Computer experience to complete reports and prepare communications.
  • Strong written and verbal skills and ability to effectively communicate with all age groups
  • Access to transportation and a valid driver’s license required.
  • Preference to candidates with knowledge of Floyd County.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Position is flexible, will from time to time require attendance at programs as assigned by the County Youth Coordinator.  Hours will vary depending on programming so applicant needs to be flexible.


  • Beginning approximately 1st week in June through July 30th, 2021.
  • $10.00 per hour starting wage.
  • This position is considered temporary part-time and consists of approximately 24 hours per week.  Must be able to work variable hours as needed.
  • This is a part-time, temporary position; therefore, the employee will not receive paid holidays, vacation or sick leave in accordance with the Personnel Policy Handbook.
  • Must pass ISU Extension and Outreach background check and be approved by the Floyd County Agricultural Extension Council.
  • Mileage for work related travel reimbursed at the federal rate.


  • The 4-H Summer Aide is accountable to the employer, Floyd County Agricultural Extension District.
  • The County Director supervises this position.  Programmatic supervision provided by the County Youth Coordinator.
