Victor, a native of Saltillo, Mexico, has been with ISU Extension and Outreach for five years--initially as Latino Community Liaison and now as Retail Business Specialist. Prior to that, he was the Southeast Iowa Regional Director of the Emprendedores (entrepreneurs) Latinos de Iowa program at the Iowa Center for Economic Success.
Victor provides educational opportunities and programs, consultation, and technical assistance for retail business owners and for communities seeking to build stronger local retail economies. As part of the business development team, he works to strengthen local retail economies, with a primary focus on the linkages between food producers, processors, and food retailers to expand the local and regional food options offered to consumers.
Recently, the Latino Business and Entrepreneurship Team from the Community and Economic Development Program, of which he is a member was presented the Iowa State University Award for Achievement in Economic Development.
