Youth Enjoy 4-H Summer Adventure Trip

Summer Adventure Trip

Nine intermediate 4-H members from Clayton and Fayette counties enjoyed a summer adventure trip to Boone, Ames and Story City. The trip was coordinated by Tammy Muller, Clayton County Youth Coordinator.

The trip started off with a stop at the Iowa State 4-H Office in Ames. Nate Weber, 4-H STEM Coordinator gave a tour of the office and lead the group through a design activity. After lunch the group headed to Boone for a train ride on the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad. The train excursion started at the depot in Boone and traveled through the Des Moines River Valley to the old mining community of Frazer. A highlight of the voyage as crossing the 156’ tall Bass Point Creek High Bridge. The group also visited the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum & History Center. On the way home the group stopped in Story City to ride the 1913 antique carousel.

Participants included Nolan Gaul, Strawberry Point; Carter Hillers, Colesburg; Kyson Moss, West Union; Maxwell Schantz, Strawberry Point; Abigail Schilling, Colesburg; Ashley Schilling, Colesburg; Damien Scott, Arlington; Blake Sparrgrove, West Union; and Caleb Zuercher, Luana. Additional chaperones were Neil and Julie Lansing from Fayette County.
