Iowa State University has been a leader in veterinary medical education throughout its history. It holds the distinction of organizing our country's first public veterinary college. Since its founding in 1879, the College of Veterinary Medicine has evolved into a major teaching, research and service center for the state of Iowa and beyond. The depth of expertise found in Iowa State's Veterinary Medical Center is not found anywhere else in the state. We provide the clinical services of highly skilled specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of large and small animal diseases. The medical center provides specialists in anesthesiology, cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, radiology, reproduction and surgery who can assist in solving difficult medical problems, resulting in a comprehensive therapeutic environment.
