Preparation Required:


Riding instructors will generally have benefited from years of instruction themselves and be recognized as being skilled in riding as well as in providing instruction. They will generally participate in informal training as provided although some states require certification. Clinicians and seminar leaders will generally be recognized in the particular area in which they provide instruction.  They may gain information through degree programs, experience or informal training opportunities. Cooperative Extension provides informal training and leadership at the local level.  Generally a minimum of a master's degree is required in most states for all of these positions and a Ph.D. may be required for some positions. Professors and instructors generally have a minimum of a master's degree and generally will have earned Ph.D.'s in their field of study.
