2024 Equine Extravaganza Showmanship Clinics

Ready, Set, Show!  Make plans to join the Showmanship clinics. Exhibitors will receive professional instruction from Jill Paxton while working with their horses on the ground.  Auditors are welcome (no charge).

Where: Ellsworth Equestrian Center, Iowa Falls


  • Clinic One: 10:00 am -12:00 pm - Junior Showmanship (4th-8th grade)
  • Clinic Two: 1:00 - 3:00 pm - Senior Showmanship (9th-12th grade)

Clinician: Jill Paxton spent her youth hunting, pony clubbing, judging, showing hunters, and Eventing and galloping horses at Delaware Park. After moving to Iowa and falling in love with stock horses, Jill began showing and training breed show horses. 

Jill holds 11 judges’ cards: APHA, NSBA, PtHA, ApHC, ABRA, IBHA, NASMDA, POAC, ASHA, Iowa Ranch Horse Association, and the GVHS. Jill has been privileged to judge horse shows across the US, Canada, Columbia, and Europe. Having been invited to judge the POAC Nationals (three times), the Appaloosa Nationals (three times), The ApHC World Show, the PtHA World Show, and Congress and the ABRA World Show (twice), Jill also judged in Germany (where she judged the German Nationals and European Championships (twice), Denmark (where she judged the Danish Nationals, twice), The Bavarian Nationals (twice) as well as judging in Austria, Holland, the Czech Republic, and Bogata, Columbia.

Believing that solid youth involvement and leadership is the future of our industry, Jill served on the APHA Youth Committee for five years.  She was the Chair of the youth committee for two years.  She is currently the Chairperson for the APHA Professional Horsemen’s’ Committee and a National Director.  Jill served on the judge’s advisory committee for ApHC and is currently on the Judges' committee for GVHS.  When not judging or working with the associations, Jill can be found giving clinics and teaching Animal Science at Iowa State University.

  • The cost for each clinic is $100, which includes one stall and bedding. The stall will be available Friday, April 12th, and Saturday, April 13th.
  • Registration applications are due by March 31st. Participation priority will be given to currently enrolled 4-H members. However, all youth are welcome to apply. To participate, youth must be 9 to 18 (as of January l, 2024).
  • Each clinic is limited to the first five youths who sign up.
  • Participants are required to complete an Equine Extravaganza clinic waiver.
