The Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA), sponsored by the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost, is a university-wide program established to enhance leadership development for our tenured faculty and P&S staff. The Emerging Leaders Academy aims to enhance the leadership abilities of employees currently serving in leadership roles, or those who aspire to such positions in the future. Emphasis is placed on development of depth of leadership skills as well as to the diversification of the potential pool of leadership candidates.
The Emerging Leaders Academy is offered annually. Throughout the academic year in which the program is offered, the ELA cohort participates in monthly leadership sessions led by on-campus and outside experts. The program sessions focus on leadership research, theory and practice, and ISU's past, present and future strengths and challenges. The program culminates in a semester-long mentoring experience for each participant with a current Iowa State leader.
The members of each ELA cohort are selected by nomination. The nomination process for each cohort begins the previous spring semester. To be considered for nomination, faculty members must be tenured while P&S staff should be at level P35 or above (Staff members with appointment below P 35 may be considered if they have a record of demonstrated leadership).
The 2017-2018 Emerging Leaders Academy cohort will begin meeting on August 31, 2017.
