The goal of Earth-Kind® trial research is to identify low maintenance, superior performing plant materials for the landscape. As Earth-Kind® research expands into other plant varieties, protocols will be developed to evaluate the attributes the nurseries claim the specific plants possess. In addition to this, these varieties will be compared to a long held proven plant as is the use of the Griffith Buck rose Carefree Beauty as a control in all Earth-Kind® rose trials.  Site preparation as explained in the Planting and Care Protocol will remain the standard in all trials.
