Orange pink shrub. The long, ovoid-pointed buds open to single (6-15 petals), ffat. 4-4.5 inch blooms of geranium lake (RHSCC 47D) which age to light Empire rose (RHSCC 48D). The blooms, borne singly and in clusters of 2-25, have a moderately spicy, clove fragrance. The abundant, leathery foliage is dark green and slightly scented when young. The large thorns are russet and awl-like. The erect, bushy, 5 ft plant is moderately vigorous and blooms from June until killing frost. Plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.
