Mauve shrub. Blooms borne 5-10 per cluster with 25 petals have a pleasing spicy fragrance. Growth is erect, bushy, and slightly spreading with awl-shaped thorns. Medium to small olive-green foliage with 5 and 7 leaflets. Blooms from June to killing frost. lt is not unusual to have buds, opening flowers, green hips and orange-red ripe hips in close proximity to each other. There is a strong tolerance to low winter temperatures, Blackspot and Powdery mildew. Plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.
