Yellow blend shrub. The ovoid-pointed to urn-shaped buds of vermilion (RHSCC 41 B) open to double (25-30 petals), open, 4-4.5 inch blooms with reflexed petals of barium yellow (RHSCC 10A) heavily streaked with vermilion. The colors lighten with age. The sweet-scented blooms are borne in grandiflora-type clusters of 1 - 1 0. The medium-large, leathery, dark green foliage is copper-tinted when young. The thorns are brown and awl-like. The vigorous, erect, 3-4.5 ft plant is free-branching and blooms freely from June until killing frost. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.
