Medium red grandiflora. The ovoid-pointed crimson (RHSCC 52A) buds open to double (40-45 petals), slightly cupped, 4-4.5 inch blooms which are slightly lighter in color. The blooms have a moderate, sweet fragrance and are borne in clusters of 1-6. The abundant, leathery, dark green foliage is not very glossy. The thorns are reddish brown (RHSCC 177A) and awl-like. The vigorous, bushy, 3.5-4 ft plant is erect and blooms continuously from June until killing frost. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.
