Medium yellow shrub. the small, ovoid-pointed buds are lemon yellow (RHSCC 14C) tinted red opening to double (25-30 petals), shallow-cupped, 3-4 inch blooms of lemon yellow. In cool weather, reddish tints may occur. The blooms are borne in clusters of 5-10 and have a sweet fragrance. The abundant, leathery foliage is dark green with coppery-tints when young. The thorns are tan and awl-like. The erect, bushy plant is spreading to a height of 3 ft and blooms from June until killing frost. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.
