Lisa Louck wins Excellence in Partnership to Iowans Award

The 2022 Iowa State University Extension & Outreach Southeast Iowa County Services Awards winners were recently announced. This year Iowa DNR District Forester, Lisa Louck, was recognized for the Excellence in in Partnership to Iowans Award. 

Lisa has been a key partner in multiple natural resources education program offerings in Henry, Des Moines, Lee & Louisa Counties for more than 10 years. Her enthusiasm for all topics related to natural resources is contagious. Lisa's role in forestry goes beyond her job description of DNR District Forester. She has made many ISU Extension Natural Resources programs possible by her willingness to serve on planning committees, generating program ideas, as well as teaching & facilitating various programs. Lisa is also a trusted referral for Extension staff when clients have challenging forestry questions. 

Lisa has been a part of the annual Shimek Forestry Field Day and Master Conservationist Programs serving as a key committee member and presenter. She has lead planning efforts with the Tri-State Women Managing Woodlands Extension program and is currently on the planning committee for a new Extension Master Woodland Growers series. She has helped county Extension staff in Henry, Lee, Des Moines, & Louisa counties develop and implement seasonal pollinator workshops and Emerald Ash Borer identification and replanting efforts .She has been a partner in offering Urban Diversity, Wind Break 101, and Operation Re-Leaf planting programs. Lisa works with urban forestry efforts as well as timber improvement in rural areas. She has provided professional development for extension staff and master gardeners on an ongoing basis. Lisa has been instrumental in encouraging chestnut growing by serving on panel discussions and subject matter consultation leading to an increasing revenue stream for local growers. The timber and forestry opportunities in southeast Iowa are strong because of Lisa's willingness to partner with ISU Extension & Outreach. Henry, Des Moines, Lee & Louisa County Extensions all consider her one of our best and most loyal partners. Congratulations Lisa!
