TeBockhorst Hired as Agricultural Engineering Specialist

AMES, Iowa ― Kristina TeBockhorst has been hired as an agricultural engineering specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
TeBockhorst, who has been with ISU Extension and Outreach for the last year as a program specialist, will be based out of Johnson County and serve the southeast portion of the state.
“Working with ISU Extension and Outreach is a dream job of mine, as I really enjoy connecting with people and am passionate about agriculture in Iowa,” TeBockhorst said. “I hope to help farmers and other Iowans accomplish their goals on their farms and in their homes and to make a positive impact on Iowa agriculture.”
TeBockhorst joins a team of four agricultural engineering specialists who work to provide science-based information to conserve land, air and water resources; promote efficient livestock and poultry systems that incorporate a high degree of animal well-being; illustrate the latest techniques in precision agriculture; keep Iowans safe; teach responsible manure management and improve water quality in the state.
“Kristina will be a tremendous asset to ISU Extension and Outreach as she has strong technical ability and great people skills,” said Jay Harmon, interim director of Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension at Iowa State University. “Her educational background and work experience will help her address a wide variety of needs from producers and the communities she serves.”
Since graduating from Iowa State with a Master’s degree in agricultural and biosystems engineering, TeBockhorst has worked as a program specialist at Iowa State. Her work has focused on cooling systems in hog confinement barns and on developing a nitrogen load prediction tool verified with wetland monitoring data. She also helped in the creation of a 10-part publication series, "The Iowa Watershed Approach," explaining nutrient and flood reduction practices.
TeBockhorst earned a degree in civil and environmental engineering where she received international experience and her project work focused on wastewater and storm water management and hydrology.
TeBockhorst is a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
