Integrated Crop Management

Crops specialists and field agronomists within the crops team strive to increase the level of awareness, understanding, and adoption of current agronomic and pest management practices that make the best use of soil resources and crop inputs. With the adoption of best management practices (BMPs) by farmers, the objective is to increase efficient use of inputs and agronomic practices to improve yield and profits in field crops. Extension crops specialists and agronomists interact with farmers throughout the year at statewide events, county and regional programming, conferences, and clinics. They also put out numerous reports and publications on crop production each year, convey BMPs through ICM News and the ICM Blog, and manage online decision-making tools for pre-season decisions, forecasting, and evaluation.
