It is time for Crawford County’s 4-H annual fundraiser, fruit and Butter Braids. The money raised is necessary for county 4-H activities, scholarships, awards, and most importantly to help support your individual clubs. Sales start January 18 and will end on February 14.

SWITCH is an evidence-based, school wellness initiative designed to help schools promote healthy lifestyles for youth. Through SWITCH, students learn to “switch what they do, view and chew,” and schools learn how to plan, build and evaluate school wellness programming. Support from extension councils can directly support local schools in running SWITCH, said Rachel Sweeney, 4-H SWITCH program coordinator with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Crawford County voters will have the opportunity to elect four members of the Crawford County Extension Council during the Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, general election. Individuals successful in being elected will serve either a four year term. Extension council members are elected at large, and all voters in the county are eligible to vote for four candidates.

Iowa 4-H Fighting Hunger

Iowans are invited to join the State 4-H Council in a community effort to donate nonperishable food items throughout the month of November. Food items will then be donated to local food pantries, churches, etc., in their respective counties following the end of the month.
