What do you do for ISU Community and Economic Development Extension and Outreach?

I provide educational opportunities and programs, consultation, and technical assistance for retail business owners, small businesses and entrepreneurs, and for communities seeking to build stronger local retail economies.

What is the best part of your job?

The multi-faceted projects and coworkers that I am able to team up with to impact for the better Iowa communities.

Name one fun thing about yourself that not many people know.

The origin of my family name derives from the Basque region in Spain, and is originally written as Oyarbide.

What do you do in your spare time?

Relish time with family and friends.

What is one thing you would like to accomplish in this position?

Be a connector between Value Added Ag and Community and Economic Development on business related topics and projects. Assist in maximizing the synergistic effect between the two departments for a #StrongIowa.

How do you create a #StrongIowa?

Build strong business communities with dynamic small business ecosystems.

What have you been up to lately (in your job)?

Working on creating a toolbox, together with Steve Adams, called “Tools for Business Start-Ups,” in addition to relocating to the Ames area.
