What do you do for ISU Community and Economic Development Extension and Outreach?
I support the housing team in CED extension providing my academic and research expertise to their applied projects.
What is the best part of your job?
I love the diversity of work I get to do. Combining teaching, working on academic research projects, and consulting on applied extension work is wonderfully unique experience.
Name one fun thing about yourself that not many people know.
I’m a native Midwesterner, but adoptive Iowan. I grew up in our neighbor to the north, Minnesota.
What do you do in your spare time?
I try to stay active—running, swimming, and skiing depending on the season.
What is one thing you would like to accomplish in this position?
Develop new research that helps planners and policy makers better respond to the needs of their communities.
What have you been up to lately (in your job)?
I’m working on a project looking at flood risks in the rural upper Midwest. River flooding is becoming a greater problem for many rural communities and I’m working to understand how homeowners and communities are responding.
