Community and Business Tourism Strategies

group of eager travelers

Our Tourism Strategies program revives the Iowa Economy by attracting more people to your community, getting more customers inside your doors, and generating more revenue.

We offer customized onsite consultations with individual business owners and/or community leaders seeking practical tourism techniques and resources, in both rural and urban settings.

  • Dining
  • Lodging
  • Agritourism
  • Retail
  • Other tourism attractions

Who are group travelers and why are they important?  Group travelers seek unique experiences they can share with others, including family reunions, friends, celebrations, and car or motorcycle clubs. Groups also travel by motorcoach, train and riverboat. Group travel is Iowa’s tourism equalizer. Individual travelers tend to gravitate towards urban locations, while groups will travel to any Iowa location which has crated a strong tourism magnetism. We help communities and businesses learn how to create that pull.

The Community and Business Tourism Strategies program fee is $1,300 for the first day, plus $900 for each consecutive day in the same or adjacent county. Neighboring communities are encouraged to partner together, as regional tourism partnerships can produce larger itineraries of quality experiences, which pull more customers to your region and into your businesses. Each onsite business consultation is normally 2 hours. The number of business consultations per day depends on the proximity of locations and other factors.
