Brian Perry

What do you do for ISU Community and Economic Development Extension and Outreach?

I work with communities and organizations such as local government and nonprofits, providing programming and coaching in the areas of community leadership, board governance, and program evaluation.

What is the best part of your job?

Working with great clients and colleagues. The learning goes both ways.

Name one fun thing about yourself that not many people know.

That I’m a Cajun and have had several traiteurs (faith healers) in the family.

What do you do in your spare time?

Enjoy time with my spouse, friends, and dog; listen to music, read, watch old movies and follow Cyclone basketball.

What is one thing you would like to accomplish in this position?

To play a role in making CED better. Better known and better understood because of better and more widely disseminated programming.

How do you create a #StrongIowa?

I extend high-integrity, research-based programs to Iowans.

What have you been up to lately (in your job)?

I’m working in several areas of the community leadership program “Leading Communities: A Place-Based Leadership Program” and updating my board governance/oversight programming to apply it to both for-profit as well as nonprofit businesses. I continue to coach nonprofits and I’m adding skills to my program evaluation toolkit.
