ISU Extension and Outreach Clayton County is happy to announce their summer youth programming: Summer camps and Adventure days! Summer Camps are for youth Kindergarten thru third grade. Adventure Days are for youth third grade thru sixth grade. These programs offer hands-on learning and exploration of many interesting topics. Summer Day Camps are Pint Size Science, Growing Up Wild, NASA Astro Camp, STEM Sport Games, Dig Those Dinosaurs, The Missing Bear Mystery, Slime Time, and County Fair Camp.  Summer Adventures include Invent STEM, Science Detectives, NASA Astro Camp, Slime Time, and Explore Clayton County. Space is limited for each camp and adventure day; early registration is recommended to ensure your spot. Summer Camps and Summer Adventures will begin in June and will conclude with the County Fair Camp in August.

The ISU Extension and Outreach held their annual Safety Day on May 5, 2021 at the Clayton County Fairgrounds.  Around 215 Fourth and Fifth grade students from MFL Mar Mac, Clayton Ridge, Central, and Ed-Co attended the event. It takes many volunteers from local business and organizations to give presentations on a variety of topics to make this day happen.  Presentations were given by the following presenters: Substance Abuse Services for Clayton County with Alcohol and Tobacco,  Clayton County Conservation with Firearm and water safety, Monona Fire Department with Fire safety, USDA Clayton County FSA with Farm safety, Allamakee Clayton REC with Electrical safety, Three Rivers FSA with Propane safety, Alpine Communications with Internet safety, Mueller family with Animal safety, Central Community School District FFA members,  and the Clayton County Community Collaboration Council with Food safety. The students had fun while learning to stay away from dangerous and harmful situations and what to do if you are in a situation.

The Big Four Fair in Postville is celebrating its 100th fair on June 18-20. The Fair is not only just for 4-H or FFA members.  They also offer everyone the opportunity to enter their homemade projects whether they be handicrafts, photography cooking/baking, or garden plants/produce. If you have any questions, please call 563 864-3517 or email bigfourfair@gmail.com.  Also, like them on Facebook at "Big Four Fair-Postville, IA" to keep up to date with their celebration activities.

COVID-19, a disease caused by the new coronavirus, has been in the news around the world and now is a rapidly developing public health situation in the United States. COVID-19 infection can show up two to 14 days after contracting the virus, and people with the infection may show symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath.
