Block-Out Challenge

The 2017 4-H Quilt

Are you looking for educational fun for club meetings or a club project?  Then look no further as the fun and exciting Block-Out Challenge is here.    

  • Each Clay County 4-H club or individual is encouraged to create and to sew one or two quilt blocks.
  • A total of 12 quilt blocks are needed in order to create a quilt.
  • Packets of fabric will be available upon request, including 1 themed piece which must be prominently incorporated into the quilt block.  The remaining fabrics are included in the packet with one additional fabric to be chosen at the extension office or to be purchased.
  • The finished product must be 12 ½” by 12 ½ “.  Press well and make sure the completed square covers the entire included template.
  • The club quilt blocks must be completed and returned to the extension office by July 1.
  • The quilt blocks will be judged at Achievement Fair and will be awarded Overall 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place which includes judging of creativity, design, and composition.
  • The club or individual will receive $25 for 1st place, $15 for 2nd place and $10 for 3rd place.
  • The finished quilt will be auctioned during the Community Compassion Silent Auction during the Clay County Fair.
  • All proceeds will support Clay County 4-H programming.
