Private Pesticide Continuing Education Course

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Chickasaw County office will be offering three opportunities to attend the Private Pesticide Applicator Continuing Instruction Course (P-CIC), led by Extension Field Agronomist, Terry Basol. The first two sessions are scheduled for January 25, 2024, at 1:30 pm and again at 7:00 pm. The course will be offered again on March 7, 2024, starting at 9:30 am.  Due to social distancing requirements, pre-registration is required. Walk-ins on the day of the program will only be admitted if room allows. Please pre-register by calling Lynn Bruess at 641-394-2174.

All sessions will be held at the Chickasaw County Extension office’s new location at 115 N. Broadway Ave in New Hampton.


The course will run for approximately 2 ½ hours including check-in and breaks. The registration fee is $30. To register or to obtain additional information about the P-CIC, contact your county extension office.

The course will fulfill 2023-2024 recertification requirements for private pesticide applicators. Topics to be covered include:

  • Application equipment use, maintenance, and calibration
  • Safe application techniques and pesticide drift reduction
  • Pests, pest management, and pesticides
