Iowa 4-H Foundation Scholarships - Due February 1, 2019
 
The Iowa 4-H Foundation knows it's not easy to finance a college education, and we know that many Iowa 4-H'ers can use help achieving their educational goals. Consider applying for an Iowa 4-H Scholarship, funded by donors through the Iowa 4-H Foundation.
 
Designed to encourage Iowa 4-H members to continue their education beyond high school, our current scholarship program offers over 90 scholarships worth more than $100,000. Scholarships range in value from $500 to $10,000.
 
Online applications and materials are available at https://iowa4h.awardspring.com/ and must be completed online no later than 11:59 PM, February 1, 2019.

Hixson Opportunity Awards - Due February 1, 2019

The Hixson Opportunity Award is a half-tuition grant (estimated value of more than $15,000 over eight semesters) to be used at Iowa State University. One hundred high school seniors from across Iowa will receive the award each year. Ideally, recipients will represent each county in the state. If you are a high school senior who demonstrates potential in ways that go beyond class rankings and test scores, you may wish to apply.

Five Star Co-op Ag Scholarship
  • High school graduating seniors who plan to study Agriculture in college can apply for a Five Star Ag Scholarship awarded this year.
  • Applicants will have parents who are Five Star Co-op Class A Members.
  • Applications are due to Five Star by 3/31/2019.

 

 

FSA Youth Loans

A Youth Loan is available to young persons between the ages 10 and 20 years.  The maximum loan amount is $5,000.  Loan funds may be used to: 

  • Buy livestock, seed, equipment and supplies
  • Buy, rent or repair needed tools and equipment
  • Pay operating expenses for the project

DuPont Pioneer Community Seed Grants

Do you know of a club considering a community service project, but needs funds to try it? Do you have a new club that doesn’t have very much in their treasury to assist them with local projects? Please share and consider applying for a DuPont Pioneer Seed Grant. The Iowa 4-H Foundation, through the generous donation from DuPont Pioneer will provide seed grants for up to $500 as a match to local efforts for a club’s community service project. The effort needs to be a new project and there needs to demonstration of a match from in-kind donations, time, or other local donors. Applications are due to the state 4-H office by Jan. 31. More information can be found at: www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/pioneergrants. These projects also require a letter of support from someone at the county office so start planning now. 
 
 

Iowa’s Center for Agricultural Safety and Health Grants for Ag Safety and Health Projects

Iowa’s Center for Agricultural Safety and Health is now accepting applications for 2019 agricultural youth grants! These small grants of $500 are available to any youth group in Iowa interested in conducting a project related to agricultural safety and health. We have awarded grants to 82 youth organizations in Iowa totaling over $130,000 since 1998.
 
Applications will be reviewed by members of the I-CASH advisory board. Criteria for selection will be based on objectives and use of funds. One project will be selected for the Outstanding Youth Grant Award which will be presented at the 2019 MRASH conference in mid-November. Funding will be available for travel and expenses to attend the meeting. A cash award will also be given to the top project.
