The Chickasaw County Fair Queen competition is currently accepting applications for 2023-2024 Chickasaw County Fair Queen. Young Ladies between the ages of 16 and 21, residing in Chickasaw County and/or have active involvement in Chickasaw County, are involved in a leadership or service organization (church group, Girl Scouts, 4-H, FFA, School Council, etc.) are encouraged to apply. Eligibility is not limited by 4-H or FFA membership.
The Chickasaw County Fair Queen will receive a $250.00 scholarship from the Big 4 Fair on completion of their reign and the alternate will receive a $150 scholarship from the Big 4 Fair on the completion of their reign. The Big 4 Fair will also present the winner with $250.00 for their expenses related to competing at the Iowa State Fair. The fair queen and fair queen alternate responsibilities will include being at the Chickasaw County Achievement Show in 2023, representing Chickasaw County in various parades in 2023 and 2024 participating in the 2023 Big 4 Fair in Nashua, representing Chickasaw County at the Iowa State Fair in 2023, and other events throughout the year in Chickasaw County.
As a Fair Queen Candidate we also ask that you be able to attend one of our livestock shows during the fair and help handout awards and ribbons to our exhibitors that are participating in that show.
Application deadline is Friday June 9th, 2023. Applications can be obtained by contacting the Chickasaw County Extension Office. Interviews will be held at the Pub in New Hampton in June of 2023. Coronation will be held at the Chickasaw County 4-H and FFA Achievement Show on July 15th, 2023.
