Cedar County Public Health/EMA needs Face Masks

machine sewing a mask

Cedar County Extension is working with Cedar County EMA and Cedar County Public Health to help get fabric face masks to those in need and those requesting face masks throughout the county. We need your help! There are options for those who can sew and those who cannot. Here are the steps:

  1. Decide who - Cedar County Public Health/EMA
  2. Choose a pattern - www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/iowa-4-h-creates-face-masks/ This site has links/options for sew and non-sew masks. It also has links to JOANN where they are continually adding patterns and ideas. At this time, they are not selective on style or pattern. Try to accomodate these basic qualities:  100% cotton, 2 layers of fabric, at least 7"x3.75".
  3. Gather supplies, pre-wash fabric and wash your hands. Then get busy sewing and making! Take pictures and be sure to tag #Iowa4HFaceMasks on social media.
  4. Package for donation - Put completed masks and a Cedar Co. donation form inside a sealed ziplock bag. Packages can then be dropped in the collection box in the front foyer of the Cedar County Extension Office - we will coordinate delivery to Public Health/EMA.
  5. Be sure to record your donation for the official Iowa 4-H count: www.bit.ly/IAfacemasks (make sure you note that you are donating to Cedar County Public Health/EMA)
