Crop Marketing Workshop Series in Atlantic Continues Feb 11

February 11 Atlantic Marketing Program

Local producers have several opportunities to discuss and learn more about marketing grain, thanks to a series of workshops hosted locally this winter by Patrick Hatting, Farm Management Specialist for Southwest Iowa with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. The first workshop, “How to Get $4 Corn,” was held in December, and the second meeting in January covered “Calculating Your Break Even Point and Selling Corn for a Profit.”

The third meeting in the series will be Tuesday evening, February 11 at the Cass County Community Center in Atlantic. The topic for February is “How Does Revenue Insurance Give you the Confidence to Pre-Harvest Market Your Crop?” Presenters for the program include Hatting and Business Developer Greg Boruff.

Doors will open at 6 PM and the program will begin at 6:30 PM. There is no cost to attend thanks to local sponsorship from First Whitney Bank and Trust in Atlantic and Cass County Farm Bureau. Pre-registration is encouraged to help plan for materials. Walk-in registrations are also welcome on the night of the event.

The final meeting in the Marketing Grain series is set for Thursday March 12 with the topic of Post-Harvest marketing. A similar program is also being held through the winter in Creston if you are unable to attend any of the sessions in Atlantic.
