Position Summary:
This position provides assistance to the Bremer and Fayette County Extension and Outreach Offices and to the County Youth Coordinator (CYC) for 4-H & youth programming.  This position is under the supervision of the Regional Director but is also accountable to the Bremer and Fayette County Extension Council and all of its policies.
Position averages 40 hours per weekdivided between the Bremer and Fayette County Extension Office’s during the school year and 40 hours per week for 12 weeks in the summer. Typical hours will be daytime including afterschool.  Some nights and weekends are required. 

  • Work with diverse youth, volunteers, and professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate a progressive series of educational programs and experiences
  • Plan, organize, and deliver educational programs such as Clover Kids, Farm Safety, Food & Fitness,

Dairy Story, Day Camps, On Their Own and Okay, Gardening to Give, Lego League and Raising School Ready Readers to youth, preschool through high school, in Bremer and Fayette County communities

  • Maintain regular communication with youth, families, volunteers, partners, and staff
  • Gather and prepare information to submit to Extension Council and media regarding programs, activities, and events including monthly impacts
  • Secure public and private support through fundraising and grant applications
  • Help plan, organize, and prepare for Fayette County 4-H & FFA Fair; must be available to work during the Fayette County Fair in July
  • Assist County Youth Coordinators with 4-H programming as needed
  • Work as a team with all Extension staff, youth, and volunteers as needed
  • Attend training and staff meetings as required by supervisor
  • Help to maintain a pleasant, cheerful, helpful and positive atmosphere with the public
  • Maintain confidentiality with all staff and clients
  • Any other related duties deemed necessary to the success of Extension operations in Bremer and Fayette Counties



  • High School degree required; post-secondary degree preferred
  • Previous experience working with youth and families
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, ability to work with a team, capable of coordinating volunteer efforts, and conflict management skills
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation required
  • Employment contingent on successful screening in Child Protection Safety Program
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
