Luau at Camp Aloha

What: Three days and two nights of outdoor activities and "Luau at Camp Aloha" themed fun including team building, climbing wall, archery, creek walk, swimming, canoeing, campfire cooking, new friendships, and lots of fun!

Who: All youth completing 4th, 5th, or 6th grades in spring 2024 from Boone, Grundy, Hardin, Marshall, Story, or Tama County.  Youth do not need to be 4-H members to participate.

When: August 7-9, 2024

Where: Y Camp | 1192 166th Drive | Boone, IA 50036    (northwest of Boone)


Apply to be a Teen Counselor

Counselors will gain leadership, communication and civic engagement skills by planning and leading theme-based activities and guiding campers August 7-9, 2024.  You can also earn Silver Cord or other volunteer community service hours.  Counselors must be at least 16 years old by August 6.  Counselors are required to participate in training on August 6 beginning at 9:00 AM at the Y Camp northwest of Boone.  You can earn Silver Cord or other volunteer community service hours.  Complete the Application Form in the Counselor dropdown menu below.


Apply to be an Adult Volunteer

Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their cabins and during activities to create a safe and fun experience for 4th - 6th grade campers.  Must be at least 20 years of age.  Camp is August 7-9, 2024, at the YMCA Camp northwest of Boone.  Teen counselor and adult training is August 6 at the camp.  A Volunteer Description and Application Form are in the Adult Volunteer dropdown menu below.  Application Deadline: June 1, 2024.

Babysitting Basics, childlike drawings of people and house

Are you ready to start babysitting for your family, neighbors or friends?  Then don't miss this class designed to help you learn numerous babysitting basics including:

  • Basic First Aid Procedures and Rescue Breathing
  • Home and Personal Safety
  • Age Appropriate Toys and Activities
  • Caring for Infants and Toddlers
  • Properly Feeding Youth
  • Business of Babysitting

Who:  5th graders and above

When: March 13 & 14, 2024 | 8 am - 12 pm each day

Where: Boone County ISU Extension and Outreach Office
1327 SE Marshall Street, Boone (between Casey's and WalMart)

Cost: $20 per participant
(covers workbook, snack and other resources)
Participants are asked to bring their own lunch.
