IDALS Extends Deadlines and Offers Options for Pesticide Applicators

Pesticide being applied on a field.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) waived the deadline for pesticide applicators to meet recertification requirements. Private pesticide applicators whose certification expired Dec. 31, 2019 and planned to recertify by testing now have until December 31, 2020 to meet that requirement. Private pesticide applicators who plan to recertify by attending a private applicator Continuing Instruction Course (P-CIC) and were unable to attend the 2019-2020 P-CIC will now have until September 30, 2020 to attend the 2019-2020 CIC program.

IDALS has decided to allow new private pesticide applicators to temporarily take the test online and is also allowing private pesticide applicators to temporarily be employed as commercial applicators for ag-land applications.  Read more here: https://iowaagriculture.gov/news/options-help-pesticide

Boone County ISU Extension and Outreach will not be facilitating pesticide applicator continuing instruction courses at this time.  We do plan to offer the Private Pesticide Applicator Continuing Instruction Course before the September 30 deadline.  The date will be posted on our website once it has been confirmed.
